Preludes, Fugues, and Riffs

1685: Italy, Germany, England.

Three composers are born that change the course of music history: J.S. Bach, Scarlatti, and Handel.  The result? Counterpoint – the layering of lines, bass-lines and the intricate weaving of both – secures its place as the architectural standard of music-making.

In this versatile solo recital, harpist Kibbey MC’s and performs along a musical highway spanning three centuries and three continents, as she uses her own astonishing transcriptions to illuminate the migration of sound from the great organs of European cathedrals, to the keyboards and guitars of the courts of Spain, to the llanero tradition of 19th Century South America, to newly-commissioned works for the concert harp by today’s Nuevo Latino luminaries.

Works by: J.S. Bach, Scarlatti, Handel, Albéniz, Debussy, Renié, Paquito D’Rivera, Miguel Zenòn, Samuel Torres. Kibbey releases her next solo record with Pentatone in February, 2026.
